From rising esports stars to iconic tournaments, I led Ting’s entry into gaming and esports with sponsorships that were strategic, authentic, and community-driven.

This included long-term pro gamer sponsorships, national tournament series, and live event activations like TwitchCon 2017 and the Classic Tetris World Championship. Each initiative was designed to earn goodwill from fans, create branded content, and generate high-impact exposure in hard-to-reach gaming communities.


Pro Gaming Sponsorship

On behalf of Ting Mobile, I signed Alex β€œNeeb” Sunderhaft to a sponsorship deal at the start of his professional gaming career. Over the next six years, he became an 8-time Premier tournament champion, earned over $550,000 in prize money, and made history as the first non-Korean to win a StarCraft II tournament on Korean soil, all while representing Ting.

As Neeb’s career soared so did the visibility and credibility of the Ting brand, appearing on the biggest esports stages in the world, features on ESPN, and widespread exposure across Twitch, YouTube, Reddit, Twitter, and more.

Strategy & Execution

  • Managed all logistics for Neeb including branding, travel, media opportunities, and salary negotiations.

  • Handled communication with Blizzard Entertainment, ESL, and other tournament partners to secure prime brand visibility.

  • Produced branded content for YouTube, the Ting blog, Twitch, and social media, in coordination with Neeb and tournament organizers.

  • Earned widespread goodwill from the esports community, sparking organic Ting reviews on reddit, Twitch, Twitter, gaming forums, and more.

  • Twitch VODs were uploaded to YouTube and drove additional brand awareness, with many racking up over a million views.

  • Delivered exceptional multi-channel brand exposure within a key demographic, achieving massive awareness at an industry-low $0.30 CPM.

  • Tied Neeb’s sponsorship directly into our broader gaming strategy, reinforcing Ting’s genuine support for esports and lowering CAC in Ting-sponsored tournaments.

I brought the Ting brand directly to gamers, fans, and communities through in-person activations, tournament sponsorships, and unforgettable experiences.

From a prominent booth at TwitchCon 2017 that drove hundreds of conversions to screen time in front of millions during the Classic Tetris World Championship, these events delivered lasting brand visibility, converted high-intent audiences on the spot, and created a library of authentic customer content that fueled our marketing for years.

Strategy & Execution

Following the success of my gaming sponsorship efforts, I was tasked with scaling the program to reach a broader audience of gamers. To deepen our presence in the community and drive high-quality conversions for Ting Mobile, I led several standout live event activations:

TwitchCon 2017

  • We hosted a high-traffic booth at one of the largest gaming events in North America, giving us face time with thousands of attendees.

  • Every TwitchCon attendee received a Ting SIM card in their official merch bag, which helped drive foot traffic and over 750 conversions.

  • Our CEO even challenged fans in head-to-head matches for swag, reinforcing our gamer-first brand positioning.

Classic Tetris World Championship 2018
